Villa Ilo

2004

Much like Sauna Ilo, the summerhouse Villa Ilo was designed to seamlessly integrate into the beautiful landscape of the Finnish archipelago where it is located. In order to avoid imposing on the natural world around it, Villa Ilo is strategically situated so that it is not glaringly visible from afar. Moreover, it protects the natural world from man's direct inference with its architecture. The shape of the building follows the curves of the coastal rock it overlooks, generating cinematic views at every part of the house.

In addition, the generous amount of windows throughout the home allow users to track the path of the sun at all points as it moves across the sky from morning to evening. Overall, the user feels a heightened sense of well-being with such a prominent connection to nature available at every part of the summerhouse.
