Originating in Kyoto LISN has been selling incense for several centuries. The incense holder Porcupine combines elements from both Japanese and Finnish culture. While the primary function of Porcupine is to distribute scent, it also performs as beautiful stand alone object. Just as a piece of furniture such as a chair or table creates an ambiance, the incense holder performs in the same way. The visual aspect of Porcupine is highlighted through a series of lights placed in its base making the object glow. Porcupine retains the smoke of the incense and slowly releases the scent to create a continually pleasant atmosphere.
