2007 marimekko

The Kirstu storage chest provides a solution for home storage: it can house a number of items, can be stacked but also has the ability to stand alone as a beautiful piece of modern furniture. The lid doubles up as a tray and features the Marhaba pattern which has been produced as a Marimekko Fabric.

The innovative use of the light-weight rigid polyester felt creates a tactile, textile-like feel which is very fitting for a company such as Marimekko which specialises in textile production. Furthermore ecological factors influenced the material choice: a prioritisation of recycling has meant that very little waste is produced as a result of the manufacturing process.
